A Graceful Opening: Women Dignitaries Lead Day One of the 79th Independence Day Celebration 2025 at Lingee Govt. Senior Secondary School, South Sikkim

The 79th Independence Day Celebration at Lingee Govt. Senior Secondary School commenced with a poised and purposeful opening on 29th July 2025. The first day was marked not only by vibrant cultural expression but also by a meaningful emphasis on women leadership and representation, as all dignitaries gracing the occasion were distinguished women from various sectors.
The inaugural ceremony began with the traditional Khada presentation by Mr. Palzor Lepcha, President of IDCC Lingee 2025, setting a respectful tone for the day. This was followed by a warm welcome from Mr. Prahlad Dawadi Sharma, Principal of Lingee Govt. SSS and Convenor of the celebration, who acknowledged the dedication of the organizing committee and the spirit of community collaboration.

Speech Highlights – Chief Guest Mrs. Deena Gautam
In her address, Mrs. Gautam fondly remembered her days as a teacher at Lingee SSS in 2012. Returning as Chief Guest, she expressed her appreciation for the school’s 100% CBSE 2025 board exam result. She emphasized the importance of recognizing talent beyond grades—in sports, arts, leadership, and creativity.
She also reflected on the meaning of Independence Day, reminding the audience of sacrifices made by freedom fighters. Highlighting a common concern, she noted:
“There is no difference in teacher competence between private and government schools. What makes the difference is consistent parental engagement and trust.”
Cultural and Sports Engagement
The day featured beautiful cultural performances representing Sikkim’s rich diversity. Community dances created a strong sense of unity and belonging.
